Community
Governments
Community governments are the means for people who are still citizens of a state to
begin governing themselves and taking responsibility or their actions while helping to
support and promote free sovereign self-governments.
We want to build a bridge between the governments of free sovereigns and Libertarian
minded people who for what ever reason are still citizens of a state. By them forming
their own community governments they can as much as possible govern themselves and provide
their own services while cooperating with the governments of sovereigns to support each
other in creating a freer world.
The OFCG encourages people everywhere to organize their
own community governments. The governments may be formed while still living under the
tyranny of the state, they are merely organizations of persons who live either in a local
neighborhood or a larger social, cultural or common interest community. They join together
under contracts pledging their support and cooperation to work together in all ways
possible to provide the services to individuals and entities within the community that are
currently provided by the state and to solve disputes among themselves so as to prevent
them reaching the state's police and courts. They pledge to support each other
economically and not do business with or support those persons or entities who show
themselves to be enemies of free government.
In communities of which many or all of the members are citizens of the state,
they promise to do as much as is within their power to govern themselves, provide services
and support each other and FSUTO. They agree to
petition and protest the state to ease the tyrannical intrusions on their lives as they
demonstrate their ability to effectively govern themselves and provide for the basic needs
of all people within their community as well as help others outside of it, and show that
they can regulate their own activities and businesses in a responsible way. The community
governments will work with other free governments to provide larger services and support,
whom they can find help with security, providing utilities, education, regulation of
industries and the economy and social aid as well as other services.
Citizens who are successfully governing themselves should seek exemption from
the state from its regulation and some alleviation of its taxes or at least they can
function independently as much as possible while working with free sovereign governments.
While these community governments exist under the power of the state their
goal is to do as much as possible independently from the state. People who join them
pledge through their contract to have as little contact with and support of the state as
possible and to do whatever is within their power to do to live freely and respect the
sovereignty of other people while rejecting direct participation in any of the criminal
actions of the state. A pledge to not accept any money from the state or to allow
themselves, any of their businesses or organizations to be used by the state against the
rights of others. Members of the community governments pledge to give full and
unrestrained cooperation to free sovereign individuals and their governments in working to
achieve common goals. They pledge to engage in free trade and to avoid paying taxes
themselves as much as possible and to avoid state regulation as much as possible and in
all things to work to organize and operate their activities with minimal contact,
cooperation and compliance to the state.
State governments are already overburdened by the numerous responsibilities
that they have assumed, many municipal governments find it difficult to meet their
budgetary needs. A municipal or even a state/provincial or national government may agree
to reduce taxes and regulation for a group of people who are providing the same public
services that the state provides with accountability and equal opportunity for all to use
and participate in without taxes. A community government that creates its own police and
other emergency services that are provided to the public, as described in Community Security, reduces the need and justification
for forcibly stealing people's money to support the political police. At least allowing
people to choose to support free police which would provide all public protection to all
people within the area. As the state courts are clogged with many criminal and civil
cases, people can setup community common law courts to at least handle some of the
misdemeanors and civil suits an even some felonies when both parties agree to accept its
judgment.
Many other services can be handled by community governments, from; utilities
to creating public parks or agreeing to take over the full management of public lands
which would be open to the public, including paying for the maintenance costs, thereby
alleviating one of the tax burdens.
Self governing persons should petition the state to allow consumers who wish, to have the
opportunity to purchase products which have been inspected up to the level that the
consumers demand by private internal regulatory services.
They should petition the state to give tax breaks or vouchers to parents to allow them the
opportunity to choose their children's school. Community governments can open up schools
within the community providing equal access to all children.
When people realize that every service currently provided by the state can be
provided through free consensual
government in a way in which the services are operated more efficiently, at a higher
quality, with greater accountability, with equal opportunity, with the ability for
individuals to choose precisely which services they want, to what degree and how they want
them, and this can all be done without taxes, there
is no way that anyone can presume to justify the existence of the state, taxation or
anything else it does. When a critical mass of people wake up to this fact there will be
no force that can stop people from organizing free consensual governments and the coercive
power of the state will simply wither and die.
